Maine: The Little World

from 11.22.22

The Little World—a part of our own and yet people may go their whole lives and never see it. Never see a forest of moss rising from a rock or notice the perforations in the bark of a birch tree. Our earth is so grand, so expansive; so small, so infinitesimal. It begs that we stand on its vistas and strain our eyes as far as they can see. But it also asks that we come very close and examine its lowliest members. It yearns that we would stretch our wonder in both directions and find that it all bears witness. For if the skies display the handiwork of God, the little world shows the ridges of his fingerprints.
